A poem says:
King Zhou, without the Way, was like the fiend Qiongqi;word of his ten crimes has come down for ten thousand ages to know.He cracked bones and cut open wombs, and the common folk suffered;the scorpion pit and the burning pillar made ghosts and gods grieve.

The west wind howls by night and the dark bird cries;the evening rain hangs on till morning and the cuckoo weeps. With endless grief I write of things gone by:to this day the green annals of history show no favour.

Now, Ziya ordered his attendants to carry Yin Pobai’s body out of the camp and bury it with due rites on a piece of high ground, and when that was done he ordered his generals to attack the city. Meanwhile King Zhou was in the hall discussing affairs with his officials, civil and military, when the officer of the Meridian Gate suddenly came to report: “Yin Pobai gave offence to Jiang Shang with his words and has been killed. We await Your Majesty’s command.” King Zhou was badly shaken. Beside him, Yin Pobai’s son wept and said, “‘When two states are at war, the envoy is not put to death.’ Yet they have dared to kill the royal envoy — no crime of defiance and rebellion could be worse! Your servant will give his life to avenge this wrong to his sovereign and his father.” King Zhou comforted him, saying, “Your loyalty and devotion are to be praised, minister, but you must go about it with care.” Yin Chengxiu mustered his troops, went out of the city and fought his way to the Zhou camp to call for battle. Ziya was in the camp, just then discussing the attack on the city, when a mounted messenger rode in to report: “A general is calling for battle.” Ziya asked, “Who will go out and face him?” The Lord of the East stepped from the ranks and said, “This humble officer will go.” Ziya agreed. Jiang Wenhuan called out the troops of his own command and went out through the camp gate. Seeing that it was Yin Chengxiu, Jiang Wenhuan said, “Is that Yin Chengxiu coming? Your father did not understand the times. He wagged his tongue and flapped his lips and gave offence to Marshal Jiang, so I put him to death. And now you have come to die as well!” Yin Chengxiu flew into a rage and cursed him: “Insolent churl! ‘When two states are at war, the envoy is not put to death.’ My father came at the Son of Heaven’s command to make peace between the two states, and he was murdered by a churl like you. You killed my father, and you and I cannot live under the same sky. I will take you and hack you into ten thousand pieces to vent this hatred!” His cursing done, he spurred his horse, whirled his sabre and flew straight at him. Jiang Wenhuan struck back full in his face with the sabre in his hand. The two horses came together and both sabres rose at once. There is a verse of praise to prove it. It says:
