A poem says:
Since of old a winning smile has been called the ruin of cities;with fox charms she bewitched a king, who squandered his love in folly.Her slender, swaying waist was a sword that hurried men to their deaths;her light and graceful form, a weapon that drew their souls away.
雉雞有意能歌月，玉石無心解鼓聲。斷送殷湯成個事，依然都帶血痕薨。

The pheasant had a mind to sing beneath the moon;the jade, though it had no heart, understood the music of the drum.They brought the house of Tang to ruin and made an end of it;and still, at the last, all of them died with the stain of blood upon them.
話說武王是仁德之君，一時那裏想起「鼓進金止」之意。只見眾將聽的鼓響，各要爭先，鎗刀劍戟，鞭鐧抓鎚，鉤鐮鉞斧，拐子流星，一齊上前，將紂王裹在垓心。魯仁傑對雷鵾、雷鵬曰：「『主憂臣辱』，吾等正于此時盡忠報國，捨一死以決雌雄，豈得令反臣揚威逞武哉！」雷鵾曰：「兄言是也。吾等當捨死以報先帝。」三將縱馬殺進重圍。怎見得紂王大戰天下諸侯，有讚為證，讚曰：

Now, King Wu was a benevolent and virtuous ruler, and in that moment it never occurred to him that ‘the drum means advance, the gong means halt’. As soon as the generals heard the drum, each strove to be first: spears and sabres, swords and halberds, iron whips, maces, claws and hammers, hook-sickles, battle-axes and axes, crutch-staffs and meteor hammers all surged forward together and hemmed King Zhou in at the heart of the fray. Lu Renjie said to Lei Kun and Lei Peng, “‘When the lord is troubled, his ministers are shamed.’ Now is the very time for us to show our loyalty to the end and repay our country — to throw away our lives and settle who is the stronger. How can we let these rebel subjects flaunt their might!” Lei Kun said, “Elder brother is right. We must give our lives to repay the late king.” The three generals spurred their horses and fought their way into the encirclement. And how did King Zhou fight the lords of all the realm? There is a verse of praise to prove it. It says:
