At Jinsha Ridge in Zhenjiang Prefecture they carried off Du Caiqiu and Li Liniang, the concubines of Luo Shengyuan, Chancellor Luo’s son, cut down the escort guards and made off with gold and silver. It was robbery with torches lit and weapons drawn, and these two were in on it. They passed themselves off as Lei Ming, Chen Liang, Qin Yuanliang and Ma Zhaoxiong, and those four have been wrongly accused and are at the Ministry of Justice right now. This monk has been asked to see to the matter. Question these two, Your Honour, so that the case can be closed.” At this the magistrate said, “Jia Hu, Wei Ying! At Jinsha Ridge you robbed with torches lit and weapons drawn, carried off Luo Shengyuan’s concubines and killed and wounded people. How many of you were there in all?”

Li Meng and Chen Qing went off on their own, and Huang Qing, Xie Guang and Gao Shun are still at the temple.” When he had heard this the magistrate said, “Holy monk, what is to be done about this?” “Give me a set of official papers, Your Honour,” said the monk, “and this monk will take the four head constables, Chai, Du, Lei and Ma, join up with the local officers and troops of Zhenjiang Prefecture, and go to Cangzhen Temple to catch this gang of villains.
