She Dayou, styled Junshi, was a man of Yang County in Hanzhong. Having passed the military examinations, he served under Zu Shushun. Zu treated him generously and promoted him again and again, until he became a commander-in-chief of the false Zhou. Later, sensing that the cause was lost, She secretly turned his troops on Zu. Zu fought back and was wounded in the hand, and She seized the moment to bind him and offered his submission to Governor-General Cai. When he reached the capital, he dreamed that he went to the court of the underworld. The King of the Underworld, angered by his treachery, ordered ghosts to pour boiling oil over his feet. When he woke, the pain in his feet was more than he could bear. Later they swelled and festered, and all his toes fell off. Then malaria came on top of it. Again and again he cried out, “It is true, I broke faith!” And so he died.
