A poem says:
Once the true primal essence is spent, all affairs are done;doing nothing, making nothing, I have no cares at all.The white jade in my heart few men can understand;the yellow gold of the world I do not seek.

By the rocks the brook’s voice speaks in Sanskrit;by the stream the mountain colours swallow the cold current. At times I sit at the head of Seven-Li Shoal, and the new moon hangs over the river for my fishing hook.

Now, the True Lord Daode, under Randeng’s orders, finished his song and came forward with his sword. The True Lord said, “Wang Bian! You people do not understand Heaven’s timing. You hope to turn heaven and earth upside down and act against Heaven — you are only waiting to lose your lives, and what use will it be then to bite your own navel? Eight or nine of your ten formations have been broken already, and still you do not repent, but go on trusting in your strength and raging!” When Heavenly Lord Wang heard the True Lord Daode speak so, he flew into a rage and came at him with his sword. The True Lord Daode parried and struck back. After a few bouts Wang Bian went into his formation. The True Lord Daode heard the golden bell ring and followed him into the formation. Wang Bian climbed his platform and dashed down a gourd just as before, and red water covered the ground. The True Lord shook out his sleeve and dropped a single lotus petal, and the True Lord Daode stood on the petal with both feet. Let the red water surge up and down as it might, the True Lord Daode paid it no heed. Heavenly Lord Wang dashed down another gourd. An auspicious cloud appeared above the True Lord’s head and covered him from above, so that no water touched his body; below, the red water could not touch his feet, and he was like a little lotus boat. Truly:
