A poem says:
Once, as the armies marched, men praised the chief minister;now his fated hour has come, and all his plans must fail. His wind-and-thunder formations were laid out like racing waves;his dragon-and-tiger camps, ranged in rows, now drop like scattered blossoms.
Even had the Yellow River Formation carried the day, what of the common folk, more to be pitied still?I urge you, sir: do not wait till you reach the dragon’s ground;come with us to the Spirit Terrace and enjoy the glories of the world.

Now, the two Heavenly Venerables entered the formation. Laozi saw the disciples lying as if drunk and not yet woken, sunk in heavy sleep, snoring through their noses. He also saw on the Eight Trigrams Terrace four or five people whose bodies were no longer whole. Laozi sighed: “What a pity — a thousand years of work and practice, all at once turned into a painted cake!” Meanwhile, when Qiongxiao saw Laozi come into the formation to look about, she let fly the Golden Flood-Dragon Scissors. In midair the scissors straightened and snapped like shears, head crossing head and tail crossing tail, and came dropping down. From the back of his ox Laozi saw the scissors falling and lifted the mouth of his sleeve to meet them; the scissors went into it like a mustard seed dropping into the great sea, without a sound or a stir. Bixiao then sent up the Primordial Golden Bushel; Laozi tossed the Wind-and-Fire Prayer Mat into the air and called the Yellow-Turbaned Strongman: “Take this bushel up to the Palace of Jade Emptiness!” The three ladies cried, “Enough! You’ve taken our treasures — do you think we’ll let it end there?” All three came down from the terrace together and flew straight at them, swords in hand. — Would the Heavenly Venerables really come to blows with them? — Laozi shook open the Heaven-and-Earth Diagram and ordered the Yellow-Turbaned Strongman: “Wrap up Yunxiao and press her down beneath Qilin Cliff!” The strongman received the command, wrapped her in the diagram and carried her off. But no more of that. Now, Qiongxiao came on with her sword. Yuanshi ordered the White Crane Boy to send the Three-Treasure Jade Ruyi up into the air; it struck Qiongxiao squarely on the top of the head and split open her crown — one soul went off to the Investiture Terrace. Bixiao cried, “A thousand years of the Way and its virtue, and all at once you have destroyed it! Truly all my practice was in vain!” She sent a flying sword at the Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi, but the White Crane Boy struck it with the ruyi and knocked it down into the dust. Yuanshi took a box from his sleeve, lifted the lid and tossed it into the air, and it shut Bixiao inside, bird and all; in a little while she had turned into a pool of blood. — Her soul too went off to the Investiture Terrace. There is a poem to prove it. It says:
