話說楊戩見鄧嬋玉回馬飛來要殺龍鬚虎。楊戩大呼曰：「少待傷吾師兄！」馬走如飛，搖鎗來刺。嬋玉只得架鎗。兩馬相交，未及數合，嬋玉便走。楊戩隨後趕來。嬋玉又發一石，正中楊戩，打得臉上火星迸出，往下愈趕得緊了。他不知楊戩有無限騰挪變化。嬋玉見馬勢趕得甚急，忙發一石，又中楊戩臉上；只當不知。嬋玉正是著忙，楊戩祭起哮天犬，把鄧嬋玉頸子上一口，連皮帶肉咬去了一塊。嬋玉負痛難忍，幾乎落馬，大敗進營，叫痛不止。鄧九公又見女兒著傷，心下十分不爽，納悶在帳，切齒深恨哪吒。且說楊戩救了龍鬚虎，回見子牙。子牙見龍鬚虎又著石傷，雖然楊戩哮天犬傷了鄧嬋玉，子牙心上也自不悅。

Now, Yang Jian saw Deng Chanyu turn her horse and come flying back to kill Dragon-Whisker Tiger. Yang Jian shouted, “Hold! Don’t you harm my senior brother!” His horse ran as if flying; he shook his spear and thrust at her. Chanyu had no choice but to parry the spear. The two horses met, and before they had gone many rounds Chanyu fled. Yang Jian chased after her. Chanyu threw another stone and struck Yang Jian square on; it hit his face so hard that sparks flew, and he only pressed the chase all the harder. She did not know that Yang Jian had boundless powers of shifting and transformation. Seeing how hard his horse was pressing her, Chanyu hurriedly threw another stone, and again it struck Yang Jian in the face; he acted as though he had not felt it. Just as Chanyu was growing flustered, Yang Jian sent up the Sky-Howling Hound, which bit Deng Chanyu on the neck and tore away a mouthful of skin and flesh. The pain was more than Chanyu could bear; she nearly fell from her horse, and fled back to camp in utter defeat, crying out in pain without end. When Deng Jiugong saw that his daughter too was wounded, he was sorely displeased; he sat brooding in his tent, gnashing his teeth in deep hatred of Nezha. Meanwhile, Yang Jian rescued Dragon-Whisker Tiger and went back to report to Ziya. When Ziya saw that Dragon-Whisker Tiger had been wounded by a stone again, then even though Yang Jian’s Sky-Howling Hound had wounded Deng Chanyu, Ziya was not pleased at heart either.
