If you ever fail to keep yourself in line again and run into me, I will certainly punish you.”
說完了，吩咐叫安天壽同小姐開船走，知府也坐著轎走了，王勝仙疼得齜牙咧嘴，直想不到今天受這樣苦，只氣得眼淚汪汪，說：「好一個鎮江府，我不要他的命，不算報仇。」自己也不能上金山寺去了，吩咐開船往回走。離此四十里之遙，就是葵花莊，乃是秦丞相的老家。秦丞相家裡有一個兒子，名叫秦魁，人稱藍面天王，也是無所不為，時常搶奪良家少婦長女。王勝仙一想，我先找找侄兒去商量商量，設法報仇雪恨。不言講王勝仙，單說安天壽同姑娘到金山寺去降香。金山寺出善會的人多了，本來濟公在外面治的病救人多了，都欠濟公的人情，濟公從來沒要過謝禮，這一辦善會，重修金山寺，又是一件善事，眾人沒有不願意的。至少的香資一百兩，五十兩算頂少了，所有跟濟公至近的人，沒有不到的。大眾還不走，問濟公所收的香資夠用不夠？如其不夠，我等大家再給湊。濟公說：「眾位不必費心了，富富有餘。」

He had never dreamed he would suffer like this today, and he was so angry his eyes brimmed with tears. “A fine Prefect of Zhenjiang!” he said. “If I don’t have his life, it doesn’t count as revenge.” He could not go on to Jinshan Temple now, and ordered the boat turned back. Forty li from there lay Kuihua Village, the old family home of Chancellor Qin. Chancellor Qin had a son there named Qin Kui, known as the Blue-Faced Heavenly King, who also stopped at nothing and was forever carrying off respectable young wives and daughters. Wang Shengxian thought, “I’ll go and find my nephew first and talk it over, and work out a way to get my revenge.” But leave Wang Shengxian for now; we turn to An Tianshou, who went with the young lady to Jinshan Temple to burn incense. A great many people came to the charity feast at Jinshan Temple. Ji Gong had cured the sick and saved lives in so many places that everyone owed him a favour, and he had never once taken a reward. Now he was holding this charity feast to rebuild Jinshan Temple, another good work, and there was no one who was not glad to give. The least anyone gave in incense money was a hundred taels; fifty counted as the very least. Everyone close to Ji Gong had come, every last one. Even then the crowd did not leave, but asked Ji Gong whether the incense money he had taken in was enough: if not, they would all put together more. “Don’t trouble yourselves, gentlemen,” said Ji Gong. “There’s more than enough, and plenty to spare.”

They had just reached the riverbank at Kuihua Village when a strange wind sprang up, so fierce that no one could see the person in front of him, and it all but overturned the boat. When the wind had passed, they looked again: the maids and the old serving women had been killed, and the young lady was gone. The maids and serving women all dead — yet if it was river pirates, how was it that no one had seen so much as a shadow? What was to be done? How could they go back and face His Honour? There was an old steward, a man who had served the Zhang household for many years, named Zhang Fu. “Don’t fret, Chief Constable An,” said Zhang Fu. “First let’s make some inquiries round about. If we find her, well and good. If we can’t, you and I will go back to Jinshan Temple, find Ji Gong and beg him to find the young lady for us. One thing’s certain: if we don’t find her, you and I can’t go home.” An Tianshou had no choice. They moored the boat and he went ashore, and he had not gone far along the bank when he saw a small fishing boat. “Excuse me, boatman,” said An Tianshou. “What is the name of the village just here?” “This is Kuihua Village,” said the fisherman. “What sort of folk live in this village?” said An Tianshou. “You’re from out of town, aren’t you?” said the fisherman. “You wouldn’t know. This is where Qin Kui lives, the eldest son of Chancellor Qin, first minister at court.” At this An Tianshou’s heart gave a leap. “This Qin Kui,” he said, “what sort of man is he, as a rule — good or bad?” “Ah, don’t ask, don’t ask,” said the fisherman. “You’re from out of town and don’t know, so I’ll tell you. Round here this Qin Kui leans on his power to bully people. He’s always carrying off respectable young wives and daughters, and no one hereabouts dares cross him.” An Tianshou said, “Why don’t I go into the village and take a look? This business came about so strangely, there’s no making sense of it.”
