Forget all thought of good and evil for a time;let flourishing and withering leave the heart untouched.In darkness or light, hidden or revealed, let yourself rise and sink.Eat when hungry, drink when thirsty, content with your lot.The spirit, stilled and clear, rests ever in silence;when it grows dark and clouded, demons enter.The Five Elements stumble and break into the grove of meditation.When the wind stirs, a bitter chill must follow.
卻說那孫大聖引八戒別了沙僧，跳過枯松澗，徑來到那怪石崖前。果見有一座洞府，真個也景致非凡。但見：
迴鑾古道幽還靜，風月也聽玄鶴弄。白雲透出滿川光，流水過橋仙意興。猿嘯鳥啼花木奇，藤蘿石蹬芝蘭勝。蒼搖崖壑散煙霞，翠染松篁招彩鳳。遠列巔峰似插屏，山朝澗繞真仙洞。崑崙地脈發來龍，有分有緣方受用。
將近行到門前，見有一座石碣，上鐫八個大字，乃是「號山枯松澗火雲洞」。那壁廂一群小妖，在那裡掄槍舞劍的跳風頑耍。

Now, the Great Sage Sun took Bajie with him, left Sha Monk behind, leaped over Withered Pine Ravine and went straight to the jagged stone cliffs. There really was a cave dwelling there, with scenery truly out of the ordinary. This is what they saw:
An ancient road winds back, secluded and still;dark cranes play with the wind and moon.White clouds part to fill the valley with light;water flows under a bridge, stirring an immortal’s delight.Apes howl and birds sing among wondrous flowers and trees;vines, stone steps, fragrant herbs and orchids excel.Blue-green crags and ravines sway in veils of rosy mist;emerald pines and bamboo invite bright phoenixes.Distant peaks stand ranked like a folding screen;mountains bow and streams encircle this true immortal’s cave.A dragon vein runs here from Mount Kunlun;only those with a destined affinity may enjoy it.
As they came up to the entrance, they saw a stone tablet engraved with eight great characters: “Howl Mountain, Withered Pine Ravine, Fire Cloud Cave.” Over to one side, a band of little demons were flourishing spears and swords, leaping about in their wild play.
孫大聖厲聲高叫道：「那小的們，趁早去報與洞主知道，教他送出我唐僧師父來，免你這一洞精靈的性命；牙迸半個『不』字，我就掀翻了你的山場，屣平了你的洞府。」那些小妖，聞此言，慌忙急轉身，各歸洞裡，關了兩扇石門，到裡邊來報：「大王，禍事了。」
孙大圣厉声高叫道：「那小的们，趁早去报与洞主知道，教他送出我唐僧师父来，免你这一洞精灵的性命；牙迸半个『不』字，我就掀翻了你的山场，屣平了你的洞府。」那些小妖，闻此言，慌忙急转身，各归洞里，关了两扇石门，到里边来报：「大王，祸事了。」
The Great Sage Sun shouted sternly, “You little ones! Go and tell your cave lord at once to send out my Master, the Tang Monk, and spare every spirit in this cave its life. Let so much as half a ‘no’ slip through your teeth, and I shall overturn your mountain and trample your cave flat!” At these words the little demons turned in a panic, rushed back inside and shut both stone doors. They went in to report, “Great King, disaster!”
