Now, Lu Tianlin, the Black Tiger Perfected One, was just about to chant his spell and take on the troops when he saw Crazy Ji arrive, and the old Daoist was so frightened that he turned tail and ran. He ran to the back and looked: the Red-Haired Divine Officer, Shao Huafeng, and all the others had vanished without a trace. Lu Tianlin thought, “Well, isn’t this fine! They’ve left me behind as the pledge on their debt and all run off. I’d better run too. With only me left, I’m a single strand that makes no thread, a lone tree that makes no forest.” At once the old Daoist made for Niubeituo on the back slope of the mountain and fled.
書中交代：赤發靈官邵華風哪去了呢？原本眾人一商議，見事不好，大概今天慈雲觀是保守不住了，邵華風咬牙忿恨濟顛和尚無故跟我作對，把我這座鐵桶相似一座廟給毀了，鬧的我上天無路，入地無門。邵華風說：「眾位，現在濟顛和尚把我的廟挑了，我焉能跟他善罷甘休？我由這裡夠奔臨安城，到西湖靈隱寺，把他廟裡的僧人見一個殺一個，刀刀斬盡，劍劍誅絕，然後放火一燒廟，我也算報了仇。眾位，哪位願意去跟我走一趟？如不願意去，眾位夠奔仙人峰彌勒院，到通天和尚法雷那裡去等我，不見不散。」旁邊有前殿真人長樂天、後殿真人李樂山、左殿真人鄭華川、右殿真人李華山、七星道人劉元素、八卦真人謝天機、乾法真人趙永明、艮法真人劉永清、乾坎艮震坤離巽兌八位真人，連黑毛蠆高順，鐵背子高珍，這些人都要跟著邵華風，迷魂太歲田章，帶領單刀太歲周龍，笑面貔貅周虎，一干眾薰香會的人單走。眾採藥真人巡山真人在一處走，分為三起，逃出了慈雲觀。來到後山牛背駝，上了船，渡過平水江，來到孤樹崗，天光已晚，頭一起邵華風眾人說：「暫且先找地方住下罷。」

A word of explanation: where had the Red-Haired Divine Officer, Shao Huafeng, gone? The fact was that they had all talked it over and seen that things were going badly: most likely Ciyun Temple could not be held today. Shao Huafeng ground his teeth in hatred. Crazy Ji had set himself against him for no reason and wrecked his temple, a place as tight as an iron barrel, and left him no road up to heaven and no door down into the earth. “Everyone,” said Shao Huafeng, “Crazy Ji has torn down my temple. How could I let things rest with him? From here I’m heading for Lin’an, to Lingyin Temple by the West Lake. Every monk I see in his temple I’ll kill, every stroke of the blade a death, every thrust of the sword an end, till not one is left. Then I’ll set fire to the temple, and I can call my vengeance taken. Everyone, which of you is willing to come with me? If you don’t wish to come, then head for Maitreya Temple on Xianren Peak, to the monk Tongtian, Falei, and wait for me there. Don’t leave until I come.” Those beside him were Chang Letian, the Perfected One of the Front Hall; Li Leshan, the Perfected One of the Rear Hall; Zheng Huachuan, the Perfected One of the Left Hall; Li Huashan, the Perfected One of the Right Hall; Liu Yuansu, the Daoist of the Seven Stars; Xie Tianji, the Perfected One of the Eight Trigrams; Zhao Yongming, the Perfected One Qianfa; Liu Yongqing, the Perfected One Genfa; the eight Perfected Ones of Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Kun, Li, Xun and Dui; and Gao Shun, the Black-Haired Scorpion, and Gao Zhen, Iron Back, as well. All of these meant to go with Shao Huafeng. Tian Zhang, the Soul-Bewildering Grand Duke, led Zhou Long, the Single-Saber Grand Duke, Zhou Hu, the Smiling Pixiu, and the whole crowd of the Incense-Smoke Society, and went his own way. The herb-gathering Perfected Ones and the mountain-patrol Perfected Ones went together. So they split into three bands and escaped from Ciyun Temple. They came to Niubeituo behind the mountain, boarded boats, crossed the Pingshui River and came to Gushu Ridge. By then it was late in the day, and the first band, Shao Huafeng and his people, said, “Let’s find somewhere to stay for now.”

追雲燕子姚殿光，過度流星雷天化。
這兩人是前者奉濟公之命，叫他二人今天在這裡等候鮑雷，燜上一碗茶，有濟公的一塊藥放在茶內。今天鮑雷方來到近前，姚殿光說：「鮑二哥你來了！」

Ciyun Temple had a black inn here at Gushu Ridge, and Shao Huafeng led everyone into it. The rest of these bandits had all scattered and fled their separate ways, some of them alone. Among them Bao Lei, the Short Mountain Peak, went off by himself, downcast and dejected, not knowing what to do. He followed the riverbank east for several li and found his mouth dry and his tongue parched. Then he saw a little village ahead with a tea stall. Bao Lei was just wanting some tea, and when he came up close and looked, two men were sitting there. They were
Yao Dianguang, the Cloud-Chasing Swallow,and Lei Tianhua, the Meteor Crossing the Water.
Some time before, these two had been ordered by Ji Gong to wait here today for Bao Lei, with a bowl of tea steeping and a piece of Ji Gong’s medicine dropped in it. Now, just as Bao Lei came up, Yao Dianguang said, “Second Brother Bao, you’ve come!”
