Only an old woman, a stranger lodging in the town, had a daughter for sale. The girl was fourteen or fifteen, graceful and lovely, and skilled in all the accomplishments besides. He was delighted, and bought her at a high price. That night, under the covers, her skin was smooth as cream. Delighted, he felt between her legs, and found a male. Horrified, he questioned him closely. It turned out the old woman had bought a handsome serving boy, dressed him up with great care, and set a trap to swindle people. At dawn he sent his servants to look for the old woman, but she had already fled without a trace. He was sick at heart and could not decide what to do. Just then a man from Zhejiang who had passed the examinations in the same year as he had came to call, and he told him the whole story. The man at once asked to see the boy. One look, and he was delighted. He paid the original price for him and took him away.
