Now, Jiang and Han came to the county yamen. Jiang Ping first took out the warrant sealed by Kaifeng and sent it in. The magistrate read it and at once invited them into his study and entertained them. When he had learned the whole story, he opened court on the spot. Hua Chong made no attempt to shift the blame, but confessed of his own free will. The magistrate quickly drew up his report to his superiors and sent runners with Han, Jiang, Long Tao and the rest to escort Hua Chong on his way. All along the road they kept close guard, and at every prefecture and county they passed through, more men were added to the escort.

One day they reached the Eastern Capital. Jiang Ping went ahead to the officers’ hall and met all the heroes, and they exchanged greetings. Lu Fang asked first, “How is my second brother?” Jiang Ping told him the whole story from beginning to end. “He’s bringing Hua Chong in now. He’ll be here right behind me.” Everyone was overjoyed. Lu Fang, Xu Qing, Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao went out together to meet Han Zhang. Jiang Ping hurriedly changed his clothes and went to the study to report to Lord Bao. Lord Bao was delighted and at once sent Bao Xing out with word: “When the gallant Han arrives, invite him to the study to see me.”
此時盧方等已迎著韓彰，結義弟兄，彼此相見了，自是悲喜交集。南俠見了韓爺，更覺親熱。暫將花衝押在班房。大家同定韓爺，來到公所，各道姓名相見。獨到了馬漢，徐慶道：「二哥，你老弩箭誤傷的，就是此人。」韓爺聽了，不好意思，連連謝罪。馬漢道：「三弟，如今俱是一家人了，你何必又提此事。」趙虎道：「不知者不作罪，不打不成相與。以後誰要忌妒誰，他就不是好漢，就是個小人了。」大眾俱各大笑。公孫先生道：「方才相爺傳出話來，如若韓兄到來，即請書房相見。韓兄就同小弟，先到書房要緊。」韓彰便隨公孫先生去了。

By now Lu Fang and the others had met Han Zhang on the way. Sworn brothers seeing one another again, they felt joy and grief together. The Southern Hero, meeting Han Zhang, was warmer still. Hua Chong was put in the guardroom for the time being. Then they all went with Han Zhang to the officers’ hall, where each gave his name and they were introduced. When they came to Ma Han, Xu Qing said, “Second Brother, this is the fellow your crossbow bolt hit by mistake.” Han Zhang was abashed at this and begged his pardon again and again. “Third Brother,” said Ma Han, “we’re all one family now. Why bring that up again?” “No blame where there’s no knowing,” said Zhao Hu, “and no friends till you’ve fought. From now on, if anybody is jealous of anybody, he’s no true man — he’s a mean little nobody.” Everyone roared with laughter. Mr. Gongsun said, “His Excellency sent word out just now that when you came, Brother Han, you were to be asked to the study at once. Brother Han, you had better come to the study with me first.” So Han Zhang went off with Mr. Gongsun.
