卻說孫大聖與豬八戒正要使法定那些婦女，忽聞得風響處，沙僧嚷鬧，急回頭時，不見了唐僧。行者道：「是甚人來搶師父去了？」沙僧道：「是一個女子，弄陣旋風，把師父攝去也。」行者聞言，唿哨跳在雲端裡，用手搭涼篷，四下裡觀看。只見一陣灰塵，風滾滾，往西北上去了。急回頭叫道：「兄弟們，快駕雲同我趕師父去來。」八戒與沙僧即把行囊捎在馬上，響一聲，都跳在半空裡去。

Now, the Great Sage Sun and Zhu Bajie were just about to use their magic to immobilize the women when a gust of wind sounded and Sha Monk shouted in alarm. They turned at once, but the Tang Monk was gone. Pilgrim said, “Who has carried our master off?” Sha Monk said, “A woman conjured a whirlwind and swept him away.” At this Pilgrim gave a whistle and leapt into the clouds. Shading his eyes with his hand, he looked about in every direction. He saw a cloud of dust rolling away to the northwest on a rush of wind. Turning back at once, he called, “Brothers, quick! Take to the clouds and come after our master with me!” Bajie and Sha Monk slung the luggage onto the horse. With a whoosh, all of them leapt into the air.
慌得那西梁國君臣女輩，跪在塵埃，都道：「是白日飛昇的羅漢，我主不必驚疑。唐御弟也是個有道的禪僧，我們都有眼無珠，錯認了中華男子，枉費了這場神思。請主公上輦回朝也。」女王自覺慚愧，多官都一齊回國不題。
慌得那西梁国君臣女辈，跪在尘埃，都道：「是白日飞升的罗汉，我主不必惊疑。唐御弟也是个有道的禅僧，我们都有眼无珠，错认了中华男子，枉费了这场神思。请主公上辇回朝也。」女王自觉惭愧，多官都一齐回国不题。
The queen and the women officials of Western Liang were so frightened that they knelt in the dust. They all said, “These are arhats ascending to Heaven in broad daylight. Your Majesty need not be alarmed or doubtful. The Tang Emperor’s brother too is a Buddhist monk who has attained the Way. We had eyes but could not see, and mistook them for ordinary men of China. All our scheming has been wasted. Please get into your carriage, Your Majesty, and return to court.” The queen felt ashamed, and all her officials went back with her to the kingdom, but let us leave them there.
卻說孫大聖兄弟三人騰空踏霧，望著那陣旋風，一直趕來。前至一座高山，只見灰塵息靜，風頭散了，更不知妖向何方。兄弟們按落雲霧，找路尋訪，忽見一壁廂青石光明，卻似個屏風模樣。三人牽著馬轉過石屏，石屏後有兩扇石門，門上有六個大字，乃是「毒敵山琵琶洞」。八戒無知，上前就使釘鈀築門。行者急止住道：「兄弟莫忙。我們隨旋風趕便趕到這裡，尋了這會，方遇此門，又不知深淺如何。倘不是這個門兒，卻不惹他見怪？你兩個且牽了馬，還轉石屏前立等片時，待老孫進去打聽打聽，察個有無虛實，卻好行事。」沙僧聽說，大喜道：「好好好，正是粗中有細，果然急處從寬。」他二人牽馬回頭。

Meanwhile, the Great Sage Sun and his two brothers sped through the air and mist, following the whirlwind straight ahead. They came to a high mountain, where the dust had settled and the wind dispersed. There was no telling which way the demon had gone. The brothers brought their clouds down and searched for a path. Suddenly, off to one side, they saw a gleaming slab of blue stone shaped like a screen. Leading the horse, the three went round it. Behind the stone screen stood a pair of stone doors, bearing six large characters: ‘Poison Foe Mountain, Pipa Cave’. Bajie, knowing no better, went straight up to batter the doors with his rake. Pilgrim hurriedly stopped him. “No hurry, brother. We followed the whirlwind here, true enough, but it has taken all this searching to find these doors, and we have no idea what lies behind them. Suppose this is the wrong place — wouldn’t we only give its owner reason to resent us? You two take the horse back round the stone screen and wait there a little. Let Old Sun go inside and make enquiries, find out whether our master is here and how things stand. Then we can act.” Sha Monk was delighted. “Good, good, good! There is care beneath your roughness, sure enough. The more urgent the matter, the more calmly you take it.” The two led the horse back.
