The Fox Dream

A line drawing in the manner of a late-Qing lithographed edition: on a lamplit summer night in the main hall of a large house, a stout bearded scholar sits laughing at a banquet table, cup in hand, while a young woman at his side reaches across to stop a playful hand offering a tiny box, and another woman at the table's end hides her smile behind a round fan, with a painted screen, lantern, candles, fruit dishes and a lotus vase around them.
